AMATEURS Tabs, Olympics medalists since 1896 is a Chrome add-on that fills your "new tab" screen with the name of a random athlete who has won a medal at the Olympic Games sinceThe names are written in the typography of Baptiste Chebassier, as part of his artistic project AMATEURS. This project aims to pay tribute to the 30,239 Olympic medallists by hand-writing their names. The final artwork will be an impressive 120 meters long and cover an area of 150m2. It will be showcased at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with the names of new medallists being added live.
In addition to celebrating Olympic medallists, the developer also aims to raise awareness about the absence of a database for Paralympic medallists. The developer plans to use Paris 2024 as a platform to create a committee of historians to integrate the names of Paralympic medallists into their work.
